Things You May Not Have Known About Ben
|
- Ben first learned how to "dance" (hip-hop, etc.) by watching music videos. His favorites included "Cool It Now" by New Edition and "Oh Sheila!" by Ready For The World.
- One year in high school, he got turned down five times for the Valentine's Day Dance. The sixth did say yes, so here's to perseverance!
- He used to have a mohawk ponytail. He even had it during his first year of swing dancing!
- Due to an old basketball injury, Ben now has a false tooth which he can pop out at anytime! (Just ask him to show you!)
- Ben was voted "Most Likely To Become An Actor" by his 8th grade drama class.

- Ben's roots are at the Derby where he learned to dance by taking the free East Coast lessons. He did not start Lindy until over half a year later.
- It took Ben over a month to get the East Coast Basic. "But if music is in 8 counts, why is the basic in 6 counts?!".
- AND ... it took him over two months to get the Lindy Hop Basic down.
- AND ... one of his good friends who danced with him a lot would often say: "Let's Charleston!". For a long time Ben thought his friend really liked Charleston when she eventually came clean and laughed: "No. Your lindy was just really bad!".
- During his first few months swing dancing Ben experienced his first ego blow when the young lady who he had just finished dancing with said: "Is that all you can do?".
