Happy Birthday Dear "One2Swing Daily" ......
Happy Birthday To You !!

Even though it's not a "Daily" thing but more like an every-other-week thing, the name "One2Swing Daily" has grown on me. And for anyone who's seen our wedding videos, you know I am the sentimental one in the family. (And that Sheri is the "laugh and poke fun at Ben" one in the family).

So it was one year ago today that I wrote my first "One2Swing Daily". At the time, I had no idea where I was going to go with it and even if I'd be able to keep up the writing on a 2 or 3 times a week basis.

Well, I did indeed find out that though I would not be able to keep up with it on an almost daily basis, I have definitely enjoyed this outlet for writing and will continue to write on some sort of regular basis. And to those that have been reading and especially to those who have written comments to me, I appreciate you guys.

So anyway, in honor of this milestone for me, I'd like to point back to the first article of the "One2Swing Daily". It is still one of my favorites:

Yes, I never thought I'd do it ... but after reading the discussion on the Heckzapoppin boards that started it all ... well, there's something to be said about bravery in numbers.

To further commemorate this one year anniversary, I'd like to add an extra dimension to the above inaugural "One2Swing Daily" by sharing a photo with you which has recently surfaced.

At my most recent birthday, my good friend Gary Fukushima brought back a blast from the past: this photo taken at our 1987 homecoming dance. In the photo with me are Scott McJannett (one of the most eloquent guys I've ever known ..read his blog here) and Gary himself (the same Gary who arranged/recorded the song Sheri and I danced to in our first dance at our wedding).

I would love nothing more than to say:

"You know, looking back, I actually was a pretty hot guy ... handsome, debonair, quite a trendsetter in the area of fashion."

But really who would I be kidding? Isn't it enough that everytime Sheri sees the photo she's like:

"Come on now, don't tell me that this doesn't scream out Flock of Seagulls!".



(Although come to think of it she didn't outright say that there was anything wrong with "Flock of Seagulls")
